SPECTORS

Project Background

SPECTORS – Sensor Products for Enterprises Creating Technological Opportunities in Remote Sensing

This is a Dutch-German cooperation project is funded by INTERREG V-A Deutschland-Nederland, with the total fundable costs of SPECTORS amounts to approximately 9.8 Million Euro. The strategic initiative is High-Tech Systems and Materials focusing on ground-based as well as airborne remote sensing technology.

The main goal of this project is to develop and test innovative hard- and software solutions as well as services on top of the technology to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises. More than 31 partners from business, academia and public sector are collaborating for 4 years to achieve novel products and services.

Project Duration: 1.9.2016 – 31.8.2020

Responsibilities

Product Package: Algorithms and Software for Object Recognition

Main responsibility:

  • identification and detection of invasive weed species in grassland using RGB-imagery
  • development of an open-source workflow for weed mapping in grasslands using aerial RGB imagery

Other potential applications of object recognition (under discussion with project partners):

  • determination of plant health, e.g. detection of pests and diseases on plant leaves
  • object detection in field situations moving towards a plant
  • detection of breeding habitats and individual animals or nests
  • autonomous navigation within forest
